West Ham’s win over Liverpool tainted as Angelo Ogbonna injury revealed

West Ham claim famous Liverpool win

West Ham United and David Moyes continued on their astonishing upwards trajectory with a 3-2 win over Liverpool at the Olympic Stadium on Sundayy.

An early Alisson own goal was cancelled out by a brilliant set piece from Jurgen Klopp’s side, that saw Trent Alexander Arnold fire into the top corner.

However, goals from Kurt Zouma and Pablo Fornals ensured that West Ham came away with all three points, despite Divock Origi pulling one back for the visitors late in the piece.

Fighting for relegation in 2019/20, Moyes and his side now find themselves in 3rd place, three points off the leaders Chelsea, and level on points with last seasons Champions Manchester City.

It remains to be seen how long they can keep it up for, with European football and a smaller squad than their competitors likely to take its toll, but for now, they are in dreamland.

Ogbonna potentially out for the season

Their dreams, however, will have been marred somewhat by an update on the injury to defender Angelo Ogbonna.

The former Juventus man limped out of the clash in the first half with a seemingly innocuous injury.

Now, however, it appears it was far worse than first feared. The Italian defender has sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and will be out for the forseeable future.

Generally speaking, knee injuries take between 6 and 12 months to recover from, although West Ham revealed he will be seeing another specialist later this week to determine the severity of the injury.

West Ham fans will be hoping for better news then.
