Manchester United midfield target speaks out on Real Madrid transfer interest

Aurelien Tchouameni a Red Devil target

Over the course of the summer window, and in the weeks and months since, it seems as though Manchester United are desperately missing a truly top-class midfielder.

Whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opts for a 4-2-3-1, 4-2-4, or 3-5-2, the central pairing of Fred and Scott McTominay is repeatedly shown not to be good enough for the level that Manchester United want to be at, despite their cult status as “McFred”.

One man who could well have helped solve this issue was Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester.

For France, he has shown himself well-able to play with Paul Pogba in a midfield two, excelling as a pairing as Les Blues lifted the Nations League trophy last month. Should he be able to replicate that at club level, then Manchester United would have effectively made two new signings, finally able to get the best out of Pogba, if they can convince him to stay beyond his contract expiry next summer.

However, another interested party are Spanish giants Real Madrid, who have already snapped up Eduardo Camavinga, another reported United target, from Rennes last summer.

The 21 year old French Midfielder may have dealt a blow to both Real’s and United’s chances of landing him in the summer however, if his latest comments are anything to go by.

Speaking to French outlet L’Equipe, Tchouameni spoke on transfer rumours surrounding him, saying:

“I was in Paris, I woke up and saw that a lot of people had called me. My dad told me that I was on the cover of MARCA. I got on Twitter and saw it. It’s flattering, but it’s something I don’t think about much. To think. It’s nice, flattering. But what good is it?”

With every passing performance, the youngster’s value increases, and he could well be one of the hottest prospects in the world come the summer.
