Tottenham injury latest ahead of Leeds: Key player ruled out & one player’s involvement unknown
Tottenham vs Leeds
Tottenham are set to return to action this coming Sunday against Leeds United.
The game will be Antonio Conte’s third in charge of the Lilywhites, with his first a win over Vitesse and his second a drab 0-0 draw with Everton which saw Spurs fail to register a single shot on target.
The Italian, though, will be hoping for a much more positive display this weekend when they take on a Leeds side who have, so far, failed to reach the heights of their impressive 2020/21 campaign.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side will head into the weekend’s action down in 15th having won just twice all season whilst also shipping 18 goals in 11 outings.
As for Tottenham, they are currently 9th in the Premier League but could move up to 6th with a win this weekend.
Antonio Conte on Romero & Lo Celso
Ahead of the tie, Antonio Conte would speak to the press on Friday morning.
The Italian discussed a number of topics in his presser, including team news.
Both Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son picked up issues during the international break
And whilst Son seems to be fine, Conte confirmed that Romero will be sidelined this weekend:
“We’ve bad news about Cristian Romero about his injury. I spoke to the doctors and now it’s to wait 7-10 days for another scan to see how long it will take him to recover.”
Elsewhere, Conte was unsure if Giovani Lo Celso would be available before seeming to suggest that everyone else was fine:
“Giovani Lo Celso didn’t come back perfectly physically and I don’t know about him if he’s available. Romero isn’t available then there’s the rest of the team.”

Losing Romero is an especially big blow for Tottenham because he is the only one of Spurs’ current centre-backs that is used to playing in and has played well in a back-three.
