Mikel Arteta coy on fitness of Arsenal duo ahead of Liverpool
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off is set to see Liverpool and Arsenal go head-to-head at Anfield.
The Gunners head into the clash on a fine run of form following an awful start to the campaign.
Arsenal lost their opening three games of the Premier League season, but have since gone unbeaten in eight games – drawing two and winning six.
As a result, Mikel Arteta’s side could actually overtake Liverpool, who lost to West Ham last time out, with a win on Saturday evening.
The Reds are not expected to be a pushover, though, as though they did lose to West Ham, that is, so far, their only loss of the campaign across all competitions.
Mikel Arteta on Smith Rowe’s England debut, Thomas Partey & Aubameyang
Ahead of the game, Mikel Arteta would speak to the press on Friday morning.
When doing so, the Spaniard spoke about a number of things, including Emile Smith Rowe’s England debut:
“I was extremely happy for him. I saw him yesterday and he was delighted. He made us proud.”

Arteta would also provide updates on both Thomas Partey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
On Partey, Arteta seemed unsure if the midfielder would be fit to face Liverpool:
“He couldn’t play for the national team. He really tried to do that and pushed for that one but wasn’t enough. Again that’s something we have to assess because until today he hasn’t done enough.”
And when asked about Aubameyang, the Arsenal boss gave another vague answer:
“Let’s see how everybody is. We have to see them today before assessing and seeing how everybody is.”
