The stat that proves why Chelsea need to keep hold of Crystal Palace loanee Conor Gallagher

Vieira revolution well underway

It is safe to say that the mood this season at Selhurst Park is very different from the one that accompanied the Eagles last season.

Under Roy Hodgson, the side were solid if unspectacular, but the owners decided that his departure, and the upcoming summer window, was the time for a major overhaul of the club.

In came former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira to manage the side, while young talent Marc Guehi, Michael Olise, Odsonne Edouard and Joachim Andersen all came through the door. And it has worked, with the club impressing in the early campaign running, sitting in tenth place, and two points behind Manchester United and European football.

Their impressive home record, coupled with an impressive victory against Manchester City at the Etihad have all contributed to this, but there has been one shining star.

Conor Gallagher needs to return to Chelsea

By far the most impressive contributor to the Eagles’ success this season has been on loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has been at the heart of all the good things achieved by Patrick Vieira’s side.

Now, one stat, in particular, has demonstrated just why the loan move should remain just that, and Chelsea should look to keep hold of Gallagher next season. As per Whoscored, only Reece James in the Chelsea squad has contributed to more goals than Gallagher, who himself has 6.

It is an impressive return, and one that should ensure that he remains in West London come the summer.
