Guardiola speaks out on Jack Grealish as midfielder struggles for goals at Manchester City
Amid his struggles to find the net in a Manchester City shirt, Pep Guardiola has been discussing Jack Grealish.
Jack Grealish’s Manchester City stint
Jack Grealish would, of course, sign for Manchester City from boyhood club, Aston Villa, over the summer.
Grealish would sign for the Citizens for a staggering £100m, a Manchester City and British transfer fee record.
Despite Pep Guardiola having a constant desire to rotate his forward players, Grealish has actually played a lot of football since his move to the Etihad.
The 26-year-old has started in nine of City’s 10 Premier League games so far this term, as well as in all three of their Champions League ties so far.
However, though Man City have had a solid, if not spectacular, season to date, Grealish is actually struggling for goals.
So far, the former Villa man has scored just twice in 14 outings across all competitions.
Pep Guardiola on Jack Grealish
In comparison, despite playing less minutes than Grealish, Riyad Mahrez had scored seven, Phil Foden four, Gabriel Jesus three and Ferran Torres three.
Grealish’s lack of goals, however, is not seemingly an issue for Pep Guardiola right now.
When speaking about Grealish recently, the Spaniard insisted that with confidence and a bit more time Grealish will be aggressive enough to take his own decisions to score:
“With the confidence and a little bit more time he will be aggressive to take (his) own decisions to score a goal.
“But when he gets the ball it always has sense with everything he does. He creates free men when he has the ball.”
