Crystal Palace handed massive boost as starlet set to make injury comeback

Patrick Vieira’s revolution underway

Former Arsenal legend and now new Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira got the first big scalp of his Selhurst Park reign as his side downed Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium by a 2-0 scoreline.

Goals from Wilfried Zaha and the impressive Chelsea loanee Connor Gallagher ensured that they dealt Pep Guardiola’s side an early blow in their title charge, with the Citizens now 5 points off the early pace-setters Chelsea, and two behind Liverpool.

With the massive overhaul that went on at Crystal Palace in the summer, that saw young prospects Marc Guehi, Odsonne Edouard, Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen join on permanent deals, as well as Connor Gallagher on loan, they have begun the season brightly and currently sit in 13th place, having gone unbeaten in their last 5 Premier League games.

Eze set to return to U23 football

Now, Vieira and Palace have been dealt another big boost in their bid for continued progress, as young starlet Eberechi Eze is set to continue his recovery from injury with a game for the Eagles’ U23 side.

The English youngster impressed for Crystal Palace last campaign, providing 4 goals and 6 assists in 36 appearances for then-manager Roy Hodgson. However, the end of his season was derailed after he ruptured his Achilles Tendon, ruling him out of the final games of the season as well as killing any hopes of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020.

His return, however, will come as a massive boost to Palace fans and will now give Vieira an increased wealth of options at the top of the pitch as he looks to continue implementing the exciting style that they have begun to use. Will Eze be another massive part of that?
