Fringe Liverpool star appears to drop selection hint ahead of Arsenal
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Liverpool are set to play host to Arsenal in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.
The Merseysiders head into the game looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the campaign at the hands of West Ham.
Said defeat knocked Liverpool down to 4th in the Premier League and four points adrift of table-topping, Chelsea.
Arsenal, though, are not expected to prove any sort of pushover this weekend. The Gunners have climbed up to 5th in the PL after a torrid start to the season and are now unbeaten in eight league ties.
Such fine form actually means that Mikel Arteta’s side would climb above Liverpool on Saturday with a win – something Jurgen Klopp and co. are obviously eager to avoid.
Tsimikas to start vs Arsenal?
Ahead of the Arsenal clash, a fringe Liverpool star appears to have hinted that he could be in line to start on Saturday.
Andy Robertson has, of course, been Liverpool’s main left-back for several years now and has been superb in this role.
However, the Scot has been in pretty poor form this season so far and is also something of a fitness doubt for the tie after picking up an issue whilst on international duty.
Now, it appears as though Kostas Tsimikas could be in line to start over Robertson on Saturday.
The 25-year-old did start a few games earlier in the campaign when Robertson was injured. And whilst he impressed in said games, Tsimikas has been struggling to earn a starting berth of late.
Now though, he has taken to Instagram to post of photo of himself with the caption ‘Hands up (followed by a hands up emoji ) whoever can’t wait for the game tomorrow!’
Though nothing is confirmed, it does seem to suggest that Tsimikas could be excited due to the fact he has been told he is starting the game. Only time will tell.
