Chelsea injury latest ahead of Leicester as two players out & Werner not starting
Leicester vs Chelsea
Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off will see Leicester and Chelsea face off at the King Power Stadium.
It is Chelsea who head into the weekend’s action in the better form. The Blues are currently top of the Premier League table having secured 26 points from their opening 11 league games of the campaign.
Chelsea are also the top scorers in the PL at present whilst also being in possession of the best defensive record – shipping just four goals in 11.
Leicester City, on the other hand, have had a fairly rocky start to the current campaign.
The Foxes begin the gameweek’s action down in 12th having won just two of their last five outings.
Brendan Rodgers and co. will, though, no doubt take solace in the fact that they beat Thomas Tuchel’s side earlier this year to life the FA Cup.
Thomas Tuchel provides Chelsea injury update ahead of Leicester
Ahead of the game, Thomas Tuchel would speak to the press on Friday afternoon.
The German discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including team news.
Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have been out of action for several weeks through injury. And, when speaking on Friday, Tuchel confirmed that Lukaku remains sidelined for the Leicester game, as does Mateo Kovacic.
As for Werner, he will not be starting the tie, whilst Thiago Silva has been affected by travel:
“Mateo and Romelu are still out for the game in Leicester. Romelu is very close so hopefully he will join the squad on Sunday. He is pushing hard.”
Tuchel says that he has a call to make on Timo Werner. He won’t start him.
– Pulisic is ‘fine’.
