The three managers top of Newcastle’s shortlist to replace Steve Bruce
Newcastle continue to flounder
Newcastle’s first game since their takeover earlier this month played out on Sunday.
Said game would see the Magpies face off with Tottenham at St James’ Park. The match got off to a superb start for the North East outfit as Callum Wilson headed the hosts in front inside three minutes.
However, Tottenham began to control the tie from the 10th minute and equalised shortly afterward via Tanguy Ndombele:

Spurs then netted another two and though an Eric Dier own goal late on gave a more respectable look to the scoreline, in truth, Newcastle were outplayed for most of the tie and deserved to lose.
This leaves Newcastle in the relegation zone and as one of just three teams yet to pick up a PL win this term.

Following the game, Steve Bruce, who saw speculation over his future began to fly almost as soon as the takeover was complete, stated that he will carry on in the job until he hears otherwise:

Now though, The Times are reporting on Monday that Newcastle will step up their search for a new manager this week.
They add that Roberto Martinez, Steven Gerrard and Unai Emery are emerging as leading contenders to replace Bruce.
