The result marks 3 Premier League games without a win for the Red Devils, having picked up just one from a possible nine points during that period. With a tough schedule ahead, where they face Liverpool, Spurs, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next 6 Premier League encounters.

Despite this, reports suggest that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is “understood to be 100% secure” as the boss still has the support of the Manchester United board, but it seems as though results will have to turn around pronto if they are looking to challenge for silverware (as any team with Cristiano Ronaldo should be doing) this season.

Another protest in the works?

However, the fans are thought to be unhappy with the situation, and as per Sky Sports, the club are fearing a protest before their clash with Liverpool, which takes place next Sunday.

It was this game last season that saw sparks fly, with the game ultimately having to be postponed last season as fans rushed the pitch ahead of kick-off in a response to the plans for a European Super League. Clearly then, Police are wary that a protest could re-emerge from the same fixture, although it is unclear what the fans would be protesting this time around.

Manchester United invested heavily in their side this summer, adding Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo. That they did not ultimately strengthen where they needed to (in central midfield) is surely more down to recruitment than ownership.

While the owners may be worth protesting against, that protests only emerge after some bad results muddy the waters of what they are actually trying to achieve.
