Manchester City forward Ferran Torres ruled out for a month with a broken foot

Ferran Torres stars in Nations League

The Nations League finals saw Ferran Torres take centre stage in the semi final, with the Spaniard deployed as a sole striker for La Furia Roja.

It worked wonders too, with Spain ending Italy’s long unbeaten run thanks to a brace from the Manchester City man, turning in from two assists from Mikel Oyarzabal.

However, he limped out of the game, leaving many fans of Spain and Manchester City holding their breath. Nevertheless, Torres started once more in the final against France, managing 84 minutes, this time on the right flank. In turn, he had seemingly overcome any injury concerns.

This proved not to be the case.

Torres ruled out for over a month

As per Spanish outlet Marca, Torres did in fact pick up an injury on international duty, and it is more serious than first feared. The 21 year-old, now returning to Manchester, has suffered a hairline fracture in his foot following tests at his club.

As a result, the forward is set to miss up to six weeks of action, which rules him out of ties with Greece and Switzerland on an international level, as well as club games against Burnley, West Ham, Everton and the Manchester derby.

With substantial firepower in their arsenal, Manchester City will seemingly not miss the forward too much, but it could be a different scenario for Spain, for whom he has become a key figure.
