As speculation mounts over Steve Bruce’s future, latest Newcastle manager odds revealed

Newcastle get taken over

After 14 years of Mike Ashley, Newcastle finally said goodbye to the Sports Direct owner on Thursday.

The Magpies have now been bought out by the SAPIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, with an official announcement arriving on October 7th:

On the back of this, it has been revealed that Newcastle’s owners are worth over 10 times more than Manchester City’s current owners:

It has also been suggested that Newcastle will be able to spend over £200m without breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Steve Bruce on the chopping block?

All of this is, of course, great news for Newcastle fans, who look set to see their side once again challenging for European football within the next three-four years due to heavy investment.

However, one man who it probably doesn’t spell good news for is Steve Bruce.

Bruce, a man who had been seen as something of a puppet for Ashley, was, just about, keeping Newcastle afloat with minimal investment.

But, with a huge new owner backing Newcastle, speculation has begun to swirl over Bruce’s future:

Bruce himself has also seemingly suggested he is aware his role will be under threat with new owners:

“I have to be realistic. I’m not stupid and aware what could happen with new owners.”

And now, the latest odds on the next Newcastle manager have been revealed.

At the time of writing, Ranger’s boss Steven Gerrard is the favourite at 7/2.

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is 2nd favourite at 3/1, with ex-Bournemouth man Eddie Howe not far behind at 9/2.
