Ridley Scott’s Scariest Sci-Fi Franchise Officially Gets New Release in 1 Week

2026 is an exciting year to be a Ridley Scott fan, as the legendary director is set to return to the sci-fi genre with his next feature film, The Dog Stars. Scott hasn’t directed a sci-fi movie in almost 10 years, since he last directed Alien: Covenant in 2017, which also served as his final time directing an Alien project. Once he’s finished with The Dog Stars, Scott has already zeroed in on his next project, which is set to begin filming later this year. Collider readers learned yesterday that Scott is officially going to begin filming his new Treasure Island remake with Hugh Jackman in early November, and he also teased a few new hopeful members to the cast. Scott is eyeing Adolescence star Owen Cooper and Hugh Grant for key roles in Treasure Island, though their casting has not been officially confirmed.
