Wolves dealt potential transfer blow as top clubs eye Hwang Hee-chan

Reports from England over the weekend suggest Wolves have been dealt a potential transfer blow in their efforts to sign Hee-chan Hwang on a permanent basis.

Hee-chan Hwang’s Wolves stint

Wolves would sign Hee-chan Hwang over the summer, on loan from RB Leipzig.

The South Korean was brought in to add some much-needed support to Wolves in their striking department.

And, so far, the 25-year-old has done exactly that. In eight Premier League outings to date, Hwang has managed to score a very solid four goals.

He has also formed a great partnership with Raul Jimenez up front for the Midlands-based outfit, with Bruno Lage now largely opting to use a two-striker system.

Wolves facing competition for Hwang?

Amid a fine start to life in the Midlands, the Telegraph reported earlier this month that Wolves were primed to open negotiations over a permanent move for Hwang in the January window.

Now though, it appears as though Wolves could be facing competition for the striker from inside the Premier League.

The Mirror are reporting this weekend that both Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in Hwang:

Of course, should the South Korean indeed end up signing for one of those clubs, he would presumably get a lot less game time than he would at Wolves.

However, the allure of playing for a top Premier League side and potentially winning some silverware may prove too much for the striker. Only time will tell.
