Wolves dealt potential Francisco Trincao transfer blow following Xavi appointment
Wolves look to have been dealt a big blow regarding loan signing, Francisco Trincao.
Trincao’s Wolves stint
Wolves would sign Francisco Trincao during the summer transfer window. The winger was signed from FC Barcelona on a season-long loan.
Trincao had spent the previous campaign with Barcelona but had struggled to find any sort of positive form, scoring just three goals and providing two assists in 42 outings across all competitions.
As a result, it was not too surprising to see La Blaugrana sanction a loan move for the 21-year-old earlier this year.
Trincao has since gone on to feature nine times for Bruno Lage’s Wolves side, scoring once in that time.
But whilst his goal contributions have been few and far between so far for Wolves, Trincao has still been a useful asset for the Midlands-based outfit of late.
Xavi eyeing Trincao return
However, Wolves could now be set to lose Trincao in the January transfer window.
Xavi Hernandez has, of course, now taken the reigns at FC Barcelona following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.
And, according to Portuguese outlet Record, Xavi will ask Barcelona’s management to try and negotiate the return of Trincao from Wolves in the January window:
Xavi Hernández, new Barcelona coach, will have asked the Blaugrana club’s management to try to negotiate with Wolverhampton the return of Francisco Trincão in January.
101 previously covered a report that claimed Xavi wanted a winger who specialises in dribbling. And given Trincao does this, it seems to make sense that Xavi would want to bring the youngster back to the Camp Nou sooner rather than later.
