What Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles said to Nuno Tavares following error vs Liverpool
Arsenal humbled
Arsenal and Liverpool faced off at Anfield on Saturday evening in a Premier League clash.
The game was by far and away Arsenal’s biggest test since their upturn in form which had seen them go eight league games unbeaten.
And, when all was said and done, Mikel Arteta’s group of upstarts were brought well and truly back down to earth.
Arsenal actually started the tie fairly well, but were eventually split open 39 minutes in from a Sadio Mane header.
The floodgates would then open in the second 45 when Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino added a further three in the second half to earn Liverpool and emphatic 4-0 win.
Said victory would push Liverpool, temporarily at least, up to 2nd in the Premier League table and kept Arsenal in 5th. The north Londoners, though, cannot slip any further down the table regardless of results on Sunday.
What Maitland-Niles said to Tavares
Liverpool’s second goal of the day was gifted to them by Nuno Tavares.
The young left-back has been a solid stand-in for the injured Kieran Tierney of late. And despite the Scot returning to the squad against Liverpool, Arteta opted to stick with Tavares vs the Reds.
This proved to be costly as the Portuguese’s wayward pass handed Jota his goal on the day:
Liverpool kept pace with Premier League leaders Chelsea thanks to a thrilling 4-0 demolition of Arsenal in which Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta nearly came to blows.

Following that error, football.london have released what Ainsley Maitland-Niles said to the young defender after the error:
In fact, after Nuno Tavares error, Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be seen on the pitch shouting “keep going Nuno” to the Portuguese full back.
