Video: Kylian Mbappe scores sensational goal in France training

France in cruise control

Didier Deschamps and his France side head into their final two matches of World Cup qualification knowing that one win will see them book their place in the World Cup finals in Qatar next year.

With a home tie to winless Kazakhstan before a trip to Finland on the agenda, Les Blues will be confident of achieving just that, even without the injured duo of Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba.

They do, still, have plenty of fire-power.

Mbappe scores cheeky goal

Now, footage has emerged of a brilliant effort scored by Kylian Mbappe in France training ahead of their encounter at the Olympic Velodrome.

From a ball crossed in from the right-hand side of the penalty area, the PSG star pirouettes before providing a cheeky backheel to send the ball into the top right corner of the goal.

Mbappe has been in his usual electric form for PSG thus far this season, scoring seven and assisting a further 11 in just 16 appearances, meaning that he contributes to over one goal every game.

However, he has struggled to replicate that form for Les Blues in World Cup qualifiers, despite grabbing a goal and an assist in both the Nations League semi-finals and finals.

From the six games in the group so far, he has missed two through injury, and is yet to find himself on the scoresheet or the assists charts in qualifying, somewhat in keeping with France’s inconsistency, which has seen them draw three of their 6 games in a relatively straightforward looking group.

Now in good form, however, he will be backed to break his duck this evening.
