Tottenham boss Antonio Conte reveals promise to Dele Alli before Everton

 

Newly-appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has, on Saturday, provided an insight into his early plans for Dele Alli.

Toffees showdown

Italian tactician Conte is of course set to oversee his 2nd outing in the Spurs dugout this weekend.

After guiding his side to a less than convincing 3-2 downing of Dutch outfit Vitesse on Thursday night, the Lilywhites will turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front tomorrow afternoon.

A Premier League meeting with Everton lies in wait, at Goodison Park.

Tottenham head into the clash in search of a much-needed return to winning ways, having slipped to the depths of mid-table owing to successive defeats at the hands of West Ham and Manchester United over the last couple of weeks.

‘Starting from zero’

And, as outlined above, ahead of his 2nd Premier League debut, Antonio Conte has today spoken out over the place of one of the more high-profile members of his squad in his plans moving forward.

The player in question? Dele Alli.

English international Alli is of course fresh off the back of another underwhelming opening to the campaign, which saw him quickly slip down the attacking pecking order of now-former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

With the 25-year-old’s work-rate having long been called into question, in turn, murmurs had already begun to spread that Conte’s arrival in north London could signal the beginning of the end for Alli in Tottenham’s colours.

If the latest comments on the part of the Italian himself are anything to go by, however, then his oft-maligned midfield talent could yet be afforded the opportunity to save his stuttering Spurs career.

Speaking to the media ahead of making the trip to Merseyside, Conte, on Saturday, had the following to say regarding Alli’s place in his squad:
