The three European giants chasing Mason Mount's signature amid contract standoff
More contract problems for the Blues?
On the pitch, life could not be going better for Chelsea.
The current European champions sit atop the Premier League table, three points clear of second-placed Manchester City, and having conceded just 4 goals in 12 games.

So, why is there unrest behind the scenes?
In a word, contracts.
Come July, the club’s four most experienced defenders will all be out of contract.
Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta will all be allowed to depart for free as it stands.
Nizaar Kinsella, of Goal.com, has claimed that of these, only Rudiger is likely to depart, with Chelsea “unwilling” to match the wages that he is demanding and, as the best centre-back in Europe at the moment, probably feels that he deserves.
Tuchel wants to keep all his record breaking defenders with expiring contracts and you can see why:
– Real Madrid moving strong on Rudiger
– Expectation is Silva will stay another year, same with Azpi his two big leaders
– Christensen talks resumehttps://t.co/0HrGQG1qGR #CFC— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) November 22, 2021
But is there more contract standoff on the horizon?
Mount unsettled with European trio hovering
News broke yesterday that Mason Mount, the poster boy for the Chelsea academy at the moment, was growing “frustrated” with his boyhood club, as he feels like he is not treated as one of the stars of the side, and is looking to improve on his current 75k per week contract.

And as per the latest report from Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, should he decide to walk away, there would be a trio of top European clubs after him.
Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are all thought to be interested in the playmaker, with Bayern seeing Mount as the successor to Thomas Muller. High praise indeed.
Could he be tempted to leave the club he has been at since he was a boy?
