A stat that highlights just how important Thomas Partey is to Arsenal’s success has been highlighted recently.
Arsenal continue to impress
Arsenal began 2020/21 by losing three league games in a row by an aggregate scoreline of 0-9.
This left the Gunners in the relegation zone ahead of the September international break and with fan resentment to Mikel Arteta seemingly heightening.
However, following that September break, Arsenal have been a team reborn.
The Gunners’ latest outing would see them smash Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power on Saturday.
This, combined with two League Cup wins, means that Arsenal are now a very impressive nine games unbeaten in all competitions.
The north Londoners are also now 6th in the Premier League table and just three points off Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
So, though it is still only early in the campaign, it does look as though we could see Arsenal secure a top-seven finish this term, which would be a big improvement after two years of finishing 8th.
Thomas Partey’s importance to Arsenal
Though one man cannot solely be to thank for Arsenal’s good form, Thomas Partey’s importance to their success has now been highlighted.
The Ghanian would miss out on Arsenal’s first three league games of 2021/22, meaning that he is now unbeaten in the Premier League since all the way back in April.
Interestingly, of the 10 league games Partey missed last campaign, Arsenal would fail to win in six of those, once again showing his importance to the side.
This, though, does beg the question, how will Arsenal cope without the services of the 28-year-old when he departs for the African Cup of Nations for around a month?
