Takehiro Tomiyasu makes claim Arsenal fans will love & outlines goal for the season

Tomiyasu impresses with Arsenal

Arsenal would have a fairly active 2021 summer transfer window.

The Gunners brought in six senior players, all under the age of 24, as they look to rejuvenate their squad.

A number of said signings have impressed already, including Aaron Ramsdale, who has now seemingly usurped Bernd Leno as Arsenal’s no.1 for the time being.

One player who has seemingly proven the bargain of the summer for the north Londoners, though, is Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Japan international was signed from Serie A outfit Bologna for a fee reported to be around £16.7m.

Despite only turning 23 earlier this month and being fairly inexperienced in Europe, Tomiyasu has slotted seamlessly into Arsenal’s asymmetrical back-four.

He has so far started in all of Arsenal’s last eight Premier League ties. The Gunners have not lost any of these ties, drawing two and winning six, whilst also conceding just four in the process.

Of course, all the credit cannot be given to Tomiyasu, but it is clear that the young defender has had a big impact on the north Londoner’s backline.

Tomiyasu eyeing return to glory days

And now, Tomiyasu has been discussing Arsenal in a recent interview.

In said interview the defender stated that he just wants to get Arsenal back where they used to be when they were at the top of the Premier League, a claim Gunners fans will no doubt love:

“I just want to get Arsenal back to where they used to be, when they were at the top of the Premier League. If that happens, this place will be the best place in the world. That’s the best for me.”

Tomiyasu then provided an insight into his goal for the season, stating that he wants to earn a Champions League place this campaign:

“I definitely want to get the right to participate in the Champions League this season. I want to appear in the Champions League.”
