Norwich set to make Chelsea legend their new manager after breakthrough in talks

Norwich part ways with Daniel Farke

Just hours after guiding Norwich City to their first win of their return to the Premier League, Norwich announced that they had parted ways with German boss Daniel Farke.

A 2-1 victory over Brentford was not enough for him to keep his job, and he leaves the club stranded in 20th place, having picked up just 5 points in 11 games, and with a goal difference of -21.

For whoever replaces him, it appears nailed on that relegation will stain their CV, but they could build something in East Anglia to allow the club to come straight back up for a third time.

TalkSport report Lampard set to be appointed

Now, as per radio station talkSPORT, it is former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard that the canaries are looking to appoint to lead their side for the rest of the campaign and beyond.

Lampard has been out of work since he was fired by Chelsea in January, in a move that saw Thomas Tuchel come in and guide them to Champions League success. He allegedly turned down the opportunity to manage Crystal Palace in the summer, before Patrick Vieira was eventually appointed.

Should he take the role, it appears certain that one major winner would be Billy Gilmour, the Chelsea loanee that Lampard handed his debut, and clearly rates very highly. The Scot has struggled for minutes under Farke, but could see a revitalisation under Lampard.

Would Lampard be a good fit for Norwich, or is it destined to end badly?
