Manchester United tipped to make bizarre move for RB Leipzig starlet
Red Devils linked with a move for Dominik Szobozlai
Manchester United are in free fall.
Currently in 6th place after suffering back to back home losses to their biggest rivals Manchester City and Liverpool, it is amazing how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains in a job.
For all his likeable character, the former Red Devil player does not seem to understand how to get the best out of his side, either as individuals or as a team. Despite this, it appears as though his job is not under direct threat, even though the club have picked up just four Premier League points from their last possible 18.

Reinforcements are seemingly necessary in January, and one of those linked most recently is Hungarian midfielder and young star Dominik Szoboszlai, currently plying his trade at RB Leipzig.
Szoboszlai was a one-time Arsenal target, before he chose to move to Germany 18 months ago, leaving the Gunners to chase Martin Odegaard instead. Still only 21 years-old, he is said to have a release clause set at between 60 and 70 million euros, which the Red Devils are thought to be keen to trigger to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams.
Manchester United not lacking creativity
The major red flag, of course, is that it is not what Manchester United need at all. Szoboszlai is predominantly a creative midfielder, and while he is very good at that, Manchester United already have those in abundance.
U21s with most big chances created in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season:

🇫🇷Amine Gouiri – 5
🇳🇴Erling Haaland – 5
🇩🇪Florian Wirtz – 5
🇺🇸Sergiño Dest – 5
🇨🇦Alphonso Davies – 5
🇮🇹Nicolò Rovella – 4
🇺🇸Timothy Weah – 4
🇫🇷Alexis Flips – 4 pic.twitter.com/d2GMNKpDhD— Football Talent Scout – Jacek Kulig (@FTalentScout) November 2, 2021
Jesse Lingard, Jadon Sancho and Donny Van De Beek all warm the bench every week, instead of being able to strut their stuff on the pitch, while the double pivot of Fred and Scott McTominay repeatedly shows itself as incapable of playing against better opposition.
Should they move for Szoboszlai, it would represent the continuing mismanagement of resources that is going on at Old Trafford, with other areas clearly in so much greater need of reinforcement.
