Man United supporters fume over Gareth Southgate’s Mason Greenwood comments
Manchester United’s supporters have taken to social media in their droves on Thursday night, to respond to fresh comments on the part of Gareth Southgate, regarding Mason Greenwood.
Kane in/Sancho out
The latest Three Lions squad was of course unveiled earlier today.
Ahead of a pair of crunch World Cup qualifiers versus Albania and San Marino over the coming weeks, Gareth Southgate selected a 25-man strong panel hopeful of guiding their nation to a spot at next year’s Qatar showpiece.
A whole host of recognisable names were included, with the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford, as expected, handed call-ups:

However, just as much chatter surrounded those not opted for by Southgate, with Emile Smith Rowe and Fikayo Tomori having no doubt been left feeling hard done-by.
A trio of Manchester United attackers will too be forced to watch on from home when their country return to action in a little over a week’s time, with none of Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood or Jesse Lingard having been afforded a place in the Three Lions’ setup this time round.
‘Only chance…’
And, as outlined above, on Thursday night, Southgate’s comments when it comes to the absence of one Red Devils star in particular have caused quite a stir online.
The player in question? Mason Greenwood.
Speaking to the media this evening, the England boss was drawn on United talent Greenwood’s latest international omission, and went on to explain:
‘This is his [Greenwood] and his family’s only chance [to make a success of his career] and they are understandably a lot more cautious than we might be.’
‘He [Greenwood] recognises if he doesn’t get it right over a longer period, doesn’t nail down the situation at Manchester United then maybe there isn’t an England career anyway.’

Despite confirmation that the youngster himself is behind the decision not to line out for the Three Lions for the time being, however, the aforementioned comments have not gone down at all well with the Manchester United faithful…
Taking to social media on Thursday night, supporters of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have made no secret of their frustrations with Southgate, with just some of the many highlights showcased below:
is this guy tapped

Hopefully the next time he plays for England that it’s not under this clown
And for the record, keep this guy far away from Old Trafford when Ole goes

What the fuck is this guy on about? Greenwood has been our standout performer for the last 18 months ffs

20-year-old Greenwood getting decent game time, scoring goals and assisting in a team that has Sancho, Ronaldo, Cavani, Martial and Rashford as forward options yet this bloke says this? What else is he supposed to “nail down”?

Not only has he scored more goals than Harry Kane this season, he also has more minutes in the league than the following players: Saka, Foden, Mount and there’s a few more.
This has become personal now, genuinely disgusting on Southgate’s behalf @England.

— (@initiaxion) November 4, 2021
hes picked players not playing for their clubs. He’s obviously got personal issues with Greenwood. Sooner he gets sacked the better

Best young English forward and this is how he is treated by the manager. Woeful man management from Gareth. What exactly is he referencing at club level?

This man should be absolutely nowhere near this current generation of English talent.
