Jurgen Klopp makes claim West Ham fans will love about Moyes’ time in charge

Hammers dream of Europe again

If fans of other clubs thought that last season was an anomaly riding on the back of Jesse Lingard’s great form, David Moyes and his West Ham side have made them sit up and take notice this season so far.

Playing twice a week, the Hammers have knocked out Manchester United and Manchester City in successive rounds of the Carabao Cup, and top their Europa League group, while they also sit 4th in the current Premier League table, six points off top spot with a game in hand.

Led by Rolls-Royce midfielder Declan Rice, the Hammers have already claimed the scalps of Everton and Tottenham, while only a Lingard screamer and a missed penalty from Mark Noble stopped them getting anything against Manchester United.

However, they face their biggest test of the Premier League season on Sunday, as they go toe-to-toe with Liverpool at the London Stadium in a suitable finale to super sunday.

Moyes eyes up 1000th game

The game, while significant for wider context of the Premier League, has also taken on added significance in itself, with it being the 1000th game in management for Hammers boss David Moyes.

Speaking about Moyes’s 1000th game in charge on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his opposite number and the way in which his side operate, saying:

“It’s absolutely incredible – it’s really good what they are doing. Moyes gets better and better, even after 999 games you can improve. Has he reinvented himself? Counter-press, counter-attack but they also play in moments. The full package.”

“Everybody who watches West Ham knows they are now a full package – they are high in the table and they are top of their Europa League table. It will be a really good game on Sunday.”

With Jarrod Bowen in particular reportedly attracting Liverpool’s interest, they are clearly very respectful of their opposition, but will they be good enough to take all three points back up to Merseyside come the full-time whistle?
