Concern for Arsenal as midfield star one card away from suspension
A key Arsenal player looks almost certain to be handed a one-match ban in the next few game weeks.
Arsenal vs Newcastle
Arsenal’s next outing will see them face off with Newcastle United on Saturday the 27th of November.
The Gunners head into the game at the Emirates having been brought firmly back down to earth by Liverpool.
Arsenal were on an eight-game unbeaten run in the Premier League before their trip to Anfield in gameweek 12.
However, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were served up a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool to put an end to that run.
Arsenal, though, should be able to get back to winning ways this weekend when they face a Newcastle side who are almost certainly set for a relegation scrap come the end of the season.
The Magpies are currently dead bottom of the PL and are the only side yet to pick up a win this term.
Instead, Newcastle have drawn six, lost six and have conceded 27, which is the worst defensive record in the division at present.
Arsenal star close to suspension
Ahead of the game, one Arsenal star is walking a very dangerous tightrope.
Albert Sambi Lokonga has been a revelation at Arsenal this term. Thrust into the starting line-up due to issues befalling Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, the young Belgian has impressed greatly in north London so far.
However, Lokonga, after being booked vs Liverpool, is now on four PL yellow cards for the season. So, as per the Premier League’s rules, Lokonga now has another seven gameweeks to avoid a 5th yellow card before the cut-off point in GW19 or face a one-match ban.
But given he has already notched four in 11 PL ties, going seven without one does seem unlikely for the midfielder at present.
And with Manchester United on the horizon post-Newcastle, Arteta is no doubt keen for Lokonga to avoid a card this coming weekend especially.
