Barcelona willing to part ways with Frenkie de Jong in shock turn of events

Barcelona set for new era with Xavi

Following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman, Barcelona finally landed their dream manager, in the form of club legend Xavi Hernandez.

Especially given their financial woes, in a magnanimous gesture from Xavi, it has emerged that both Barcelona and Xavi split the 5 million euro release clause to Qatar side Al Sadd, who the Spaniard was managing previously.

The new manager has wasted no time in setting up his own rules, and setting out his potential transfer targets for January, where it is believed he will have around 10 million euros to play with before player sales.

Frenkie De Jong up for sale?

Now, in a shock turn of events, it seems as though what was once thought of as a cornerstone of the new Barcelona, Frenkie De Jong, could be allowed to depart the club.

The Dutchman arrived in Spain from Ajax in 2019 in a deal agreed for 75 million pounds from Ajax, and has played virtually every minute that he has been fit.

However, with the breakthroughs in consecutive seasons of first Pedri and now Gavi, could they be looking to offload an expensive asset?

It remains unclear just where De Jong would head, with a hefty 81 million value (as per transfermarkt) surely putting off a lot of suitors. Could his next destination be the Premier League?
