As Manchester United make manager decision, new name linked with Red Devils

Solskjaer on the ropes?

Manchester United are, of course, currently being managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, it has become obvious that the Norwegian is simply not at the level required to take the current Man United squad and challenge the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.

This has become increasingly more obvious over the last several weeks when Ole’s Man United have been convincingly beaten by both Manchester City and Liverpool.

And with United’s title challenge already looking to be over, the Reds already out of the League Cup and struggling in a fairly weak Champions League group, it is fair to say that United fans would all probably like to see Solskjaer sacked as soon as possible.

Of late, two managers have been the most heavily linked with the Manchester United job.

These men are Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Zinedine Zidane, who last managed Real Madrid.

Manchester United plan to change manager

However, despite Solskjaer’s awful showings so far this term, the Norwegian has remained in a job, with United fans no doubt concerned that he will persist in the job and that United’s higher-ups are not looking to replace him.

Now though, a fresh update from the Manchester Evening News is likely to hand fans hope.

The MEN report that Man United have privately decided a change of manager will be required following the defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City.

This will no doubt come as music to the ears of Man United fans. However, what will likely not, though, is that the Manchester Evening News report that it is still unclear when the club intends to sack Solskjaer as they mull over an arrival time for a replacement.

In terms of a potential replacement, as covered above, both Rodgers and Zidane have bene heavily linked of late. And whilst the MEN state Rodgers is said to be the preferred candidate to take over, United are also said to be impressed with Luis Enrique:
