Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard makes Virgil van Dijk & Sergio Ramos claim ahead of Liverpool
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Liverpool are set to play host to Arsenal in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.
The Merseysiders head into the game looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the campaign at the hands of West Ham.
Said defeat knocked Liverpool down to 4th in the Premier League and four points adrift of table-topping, Chelsea.
Arsenal, though, are not expected to prove any sort of pushover this weekend. The Gunners have climbed up to 5th in the PL after a torrid start to the season and are now unbeaten in eight league ties.
Such fine form actually means that Mikel Arteta’s side would climb above Liverpool on Saturday with a win – something Jurgen Klopp and co. are obviously eager to avoid.
Odegaard makes Van Dijk claim
One man no doubt eager to prevent Arsenal from overtaking Liverpool this weekend is Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman has been one of the Premier League’s best defenders for the past several years.
Now, Martin Odegaard has been discussing Van Dijk during a recent interview.
When asked to name the two toughest defenders he has played against, the Arsenal midfielder named both VVD and Sergio Ramos as said players:
“That’s a hard one, of course I have to mention Sergio Ramos, I played against him a couple of times In Spain.
“Also Virgil van Dijk, I played against him with the national team, so I would say those two maybe. They were tough.”
Odegaard has actually struggled to earn a regular starting place with Arsenal of late amidst a poor run of form and Arteta has instead preferred the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Could the Norwegian turn his form around vs Liverpool and Van Dijk on Saturday?
