Arsenal ready January bid for Euro 2016 winner as they seek reinforcements
Arsenal’s midfield options thin on the ground
Arsenal head into the winter knowing that their midfield options are thin on the ground.
With Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny set to depart on boxing day for the Africa Cup of Nations, and both teams having a strong chance of reaching the latter stages of the competition, they could be gone for a month.
This leaves Granit Xhaka, who will only just be finding his way back from injury, along with new signing Sambi Lokonga and the versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has impressed in recent outings. However, it feels perilously thin.
As a result, it would not be at all surprising to see Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar dip into the January market in search of cover, at least short-term, to help out the side.
Gunners target Renato Sanches
Now, as per Le10Sport [Via the Sun], it is Lille’s Renato Sanches that they have chosen as the man to fill the void left by Thomas Partey when the Ghana man jets off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Sanches has 18 months left on his current deal, and it is understood that Lille, as one of the French clubs struggling financially, would be open to offers for the Euro 2016 winner, who has appeared just 8 times in all competitions for the club thus far.
The French outlet reports that while AC Milan have made a bid for the Portuguese man (in case they are set to lose Franck Kessie, who has just months left to run on his current deal), Arsenal are also very interested, although no bid has yet been made by the north London club.
Lille, for their part, will surely be awaiting Premier League interest, knowing that for the most part, the money in football right now is condensed into England’s top flight, and this landing them the best potential fee for their man.
Would he be a good signing for the Gunners?
