Arsenal duo “expected” to start for Gareth Southgate against San Marino

England take on San Marino

England conclude their World Cup qualifying campaign with a trip to minnows San Marino, knowing that just a point will be enough to see them qualify automatically for next year’s Qatar tournament.

The Three Lions effectively ensured their qualification with an impressive 5-0 win over Albania at Wembley on Friday night, in which Tottenham striker Harry Kane netted a first-half hat-trick.

However, the England camp has been beset by fitness issues. Marcus Rashford and James Ward Prowse both pulled out ahead of the Albania clash, while Mason Mount and Luke Shaw were ruled out but expected to play some part against San Marino.

Both have since withdrawn, along with Jack Grealish and Jordan Henderson who have picked up slight knocks in training and have returned to their respective clubs for treatment. Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling misses out on the clash with the minnows thanks to a personal issue.

Smith Rowe and Aaron Ramsdale set to be handed full debuts

The nature of the squad (just 19 in the travelling party) combined with the nature of the opposition this evening means that Gareth Southgate seems set to rotate heavily, with a pair of Arsenal stars due to reap the benefits.

As per Sky Sports, both Aaron Ramsdale and Emile Smith Rowe are set to be handed their full debuts for the Three Lions this evening from the start.

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is also in the frame to start the game, with England short in the wide areas and in central midfield, meaning that Phil Foden could drop into the midfield.

Will Arsenal fans get to see three of their own on the pitch for England at the same time this evening?
