Antonio Conte makes Dele Alli promise ahead of Tottenham vs Everton

Everton vs Tottenham

Antonio Conte is set to take charge of his first Premier League game as Tottenham manager later today.

The Italian was appointed as Spurs’ new boss earlier this week before taking charge of a Europa Conference League tie on Thursday.

Tottenham had an excellent start to that match and sailed out in front by three goals to nil.

However, the Lilywhites’ shaky backline nearly cost them the win as they conceded twice against the Dutch outfit.

And whilst Spurs were able to edge out a win against Vitesse, Everton are likely to be a much tougher challenge this weekend.

Antonio Conte makes Dele Alli promise

Ahead of the Everton tie, Antonio Conte has been discussing Dele Alli.

Alli has been out of form for some time now. His struggles began under Mauricio Pochettino and, despite a small resurgence under Jose Mourinho, Alli continued to struggle for large periods under both Mourinho and then Nuno Espirito Santo this term.

Alli was also left on the bench for Conte’s first Tottenham game earlier this week.

Now though, ahead of Everton, Conte has made a promise that he will give Alli the possibility to show his talent:

“Dele is a player who has great potential. Physically he’s strong, and he’s very good.

“For sure I will give him the possibility to show his talent.

“At the same time, when I pick the starting 11, it’s because I think this starting 11 can help the team to win. And also when I make changes during the game.”
