Antonio Conte appears to drop hint over formation he will use for first Tottenham game in training session

An insight into the formation Antonio Conte will likely use for his first game as Tottenham boss has been provided after the Italian took his first training session on Tuesday.

Antonio Conte named Tottenham boss

Tottenham, less than 48 hours after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo, would announce the signing of their new manager.

That man is Antonio Conte, who was out of work after departing Inter Milan over the summer.

During his stint with Inter, Conte was able to put an end to Juventus’ reign of dominance over the Serie A by winning the league title last season.

Before that, Conte had previously honed his craft in the Premier League with Chelsea, who he won the league title and FA Cup with.

As a result, expectations are no doubt high amongst the Lilywhite faithful regarding their new boss, who has signed an initial contract until 2023:

What formation will Conte use?

Conte’s first game in charge of Spurs looks set to be the Europa Conference League tie with Vitesse on Thursday.

Now, ahead of that game, an insight into what formation the Italian will use has been provided.

As per Football Insider, Conte had a look at his new players for the first time on Tuesday by arranging an 11 v 11 match.

Both sides from that match would be lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Given Spurs have not played this formation regularly before and it is one of Conte’s favoured formations, it seems to suggest that he will switch things up in north London straight away by lining Tottenham out in a back-three:
