What Arsenal loanee William Saliba did during Marseille’s Europa League clash, Guendouzi sent message
Marseille vs Galatasaray
Ligue 1 outfit Marseille were in Europa League action on Thursday evening.
The French side would play host to Turkish outfit Galatasaray as they looked to pick up their first European win of the season.
Marseille had previously been held to a 1-1 draw by Lokomotiv Moscow during their opening group game, so a win, especially as the tie was at home, seemed like a must on Thursday.
However, despite dominating possession and creating more chances, Marseille were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw.
As a result, the French side are now sitting 3rd in Group E with Galatasaray top with four points.
Arsenal stars catch the eye for Marseille
Following the game, much of the chatter has surrounded two Arsenal stars.
William Saliba is currently on a seaosn-long loan with Marseille as he looks to build up enough first-team experience before fighting for a regular starting berth in Mikel Arteta’s backline.
Matteo Guendouzi, meanwhile, is also on loan at Marseille from Arsenal, though it is believed the French side have some form of option to make the midfielder’s move a permanent one if certain conditions are met.
Regardless, Saliba would make the news following the Galatasaray game after he clashed with Mbaye Diagne.
Saliba is said to have showcased his strength during a last-minute tussle with Diagne, muscling the Senegalese international off the ball before shepherding the ball out of play.
However, Diagne was seemingly frustrated and the two players squared up to each other before both being separated by teammates.
As for Guendouzi, he was sent the below message by now Galatasaray defender Patrick van Aanholt following the game:
Running your mouth after VAR proved you wrong… likkleman needs to relax before I snatch that wig off your head 💆🏽♂️ 😂
Well done to my lions 🦁 for a well earned point on the roads 💛❤️ pic.twitter.com/YQmmtVGcPa
