Smith provides Leon Bailey injury update ahead of Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa face a fairly tough test this weekend when they take on Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

Villa have had a mixed season to date. They began the campaign by losing to newly-promoted Watford.

Dean Smith and co. would also draw with Brentford and then be smashed 3-0 by Chelsea.

However, recent weeks have now seen the Midlands-based outfit begin to fine their feet.

Aston Villa would hammer Everton 3-0 following their loss to Chelsea. And, this past weekend, Villa would earn a huge 1-0 win over Manchester United.

As a result, they are likely confident of getting something against a Tottenham side struggling for form.

Spurs have lost their last three Premier League outings, conceding three goals in each tie.

The latest on Leon Bailey

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Dean Smith would speak to the media on Friday.

When doing so, Smith provided an update on Leon Bailey. The winger has had a decent start to life in England, scoring one and assisting one in three PL games.

However, Bailey missed out vs Man United last weekend and looks set to be sidelined vs Spurs as well.

Speaking on Friday, Smith confirmed he is hopeful that the Jamaican will start training during the international break and then they can assess him from there:

“I’m hopeful that he will start training during the international break, and we will assess him then.”
