The stat that suggests the Premier League relegation candidates have already been confirmed
Premier League season still in the early stages
After 8 games, the Premier League remains in the early stages but is beginning to take shape.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City lead the way, with a gap of two points between them and the next closest side. Meanwhile, there is already a three-point gap between the relegation zone and safety, with a further three teams just a point ahead of 17th place.
Based on the shots on target he has faced, Édouard Mendy has prevented more goals than any other ‘keeper in the Premier League so far this season.

Of course, there is still plenty of time for it all to change, but the trends are worrying to say the least.
Relegation candidates confirmed?
Now, a recent stat provided by Opta suggests that the candidates for relegation this season have already been decided. This comes as three sides are still yet to win a game, eight matches into the season.
These three sides come in the form of Newcastle, Burnley and Norwich, who have racked up a combined eight points between them, despite none of them picking up three points from any game.
Opta points out that this is only the second time in the 30 year history of the Premier League that three clubs have been waiting for their first wins after eight rounds of action, with the other being in 2018-19.
3 – For only the second time in @premierleague history, three sides (Newcastle, Burnley, Norwich) still wait for their first win of the season after 8 matches (also in 2018-19 – Newcastle, Cardiff, Huddersfield). In that season, two of the three clubs that fell to this stat fell out of the top division, although Newcastle survived the drop thanks to three wins from their last five games.
This time around, history could be repeated, as Newcastle are widely expected to invest heavily in their squad in January after being subjected to a successful takeover during the international break. It remains to be seen if their acquisitions pay off, or if they will get their new ownership off to the worst possible start with relegation from the top flight.
