Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offers update on Manchester United winger’s future
Manchester United overloaded in wide areas
With the addition of Jadon Sancho, Manchester United now have plenty of options in the wide areas.
Assuming that Cristiano Ronaldo or Edinson Cavani will start most games as the spearhead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 4-2-3-1, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial may find that their opportunities to impress come in these wide berths.
In addition to this pair and Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford marked his return from injury with a goal against Leicester City, while Paul Pogba has often been utilised on the left-flank by the Manchester United boss, as he seems to lack the trust of the manager to operate centrally.

Beyond this still, Jesse Lingard has proved himself capable in wide areas for both West Ham and the Red Devils in the past 12 months. All of this leaves Amad Diallo with little chance of regular gametime at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer outlines Diallo plan
Amad Diallo was expected to leave the club on loan in the summer, but injury meant that Feyenoord pulled out of the deal, instead moving for Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson. Speaking ahead of the clash with Atalanta, Diallo’s old side, the question of his future was once again brought up, and Solskjaer provided insight into the plan for the youngster.
The Norwegian revealed:
“Amad trained his first session last week before Leicester. Still continuing his rehab, will probably play in the U23s when he is ready for that.
“His development has been exactly what we wanted from him, learning the language.
“We have to make the decision before Christmas, whether he is going to play here or elsewhere. The injury was bad timing.”
As per the reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Feyenoord remain interested in taking the Ivorian on loan, which could offer him a potential temporary exit from Old Trafford.

With Rashford, Greenwood and Sancho all still young, however, the question has to be asked: longer term, where does his future lie?
