Manchester United legend Paul Scholes names the only two teams who can win the Premier League this season

Who will win the Premier League?

2021/22, on paper, looks set to see perhaps the most open Premier League title race in recent memory.

For the last several years it has generally just been Manchester City and or Liverpool who have dominated the English top-flight.

However, summer business on the part of both Manchester United and Chelsea now suggests that all four teams could be in with a shot at silverware this time around.

Chelsea’s biggest issue last term was a lack of goals. However, they have now signed one of the world’s best current no.9s in Romelu Lukaku, as well as bringing in Saul Niguez on loan to provide cover in midfield.

Man United, meanwhile, signed both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, addressing two of United’s weakest positions in the process.

They also, of course, brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club, who has already netted four in three for the Red Devils.

Despite this, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is of the opinion that only two teams have a shot at winning the title this season.

And, despite his allegiance to the club, Scholes did not believe Man United were one of those sides.

Scholes also doesn’t believe Chelsea will win it either despite the Blues currently being top of the PL, instead stating that it is between Man City and Liverpool:

“I think it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City, I do think there is three great teams [including Chelsea]. I think United have not fallen away, but it’s very early.

“I just think City and Liverpool, watching that game [between the two sides] the quality was just so high, I just can’t see any other team getting close to them.”
