Man United boss Solskjaer responds to Sir Alex Ferguson’s Cristiano Ronaldo comments

Alex Ferguson hits out at Ronaldo snub

Manchester United’s final clash before the international break was a meeting with Everton at Old Trafford.

The main talking point before, during and after the game would center around Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese was handed a role on the bench and was not brought on until the 2nd half. And, of course, despite Ronaldo now being 36 and having played a lot of minutes for United already, everyone lost their minds because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t start him.

The issue was made worse by the fact United had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Toffees.

Following the game, Sir Alex Ferguson would speak to MMA legend Khabib. During this conversation, Ferguson appeared to take a swipe at Solskjaer for not starting Ronaldo:

Now, Man United are set to face off with Leicester City in their first game following the Everton draw.

Before the game, Solskjaer was asked about Ferguson’s Ronaldo comments and had this to say:

“I’m quite relaxed about it but, of course, it’s not really fair on the gaffer that something like this gets broadcast,” Solskjaer said. “You always have opinions and you speak to people, you speak to people in confidence.

“I disagreed with the gaffer quite a few times and I told my wife quite a few times that I disagreed with him but that never made headlines as a player. I’m sure Sir Alex knows that it doesn’t bother me.

“We all want to see Cristiano. We all want to, because he’s unique, he’s different, he’s had a career and everyone wants to come and watch him. But the plain fact of it is he cannot play every single game that we play, that’s just physical nature, human nature.

“But he knows how difficult this job is anyway, the gaffer. He didn’t always play the same XI. He took some risks at times to rest Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney or David Beckham, the best players that we had. Sometimes it works, sometimes it didn’t.”
