Liverpool reportedly considering a January move for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele

Liverpool’s forwards lacking support

In Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane, Liverpool have three of the best forwards in the Premier League at their disposal. However, the drop off should one of them not be fit is immense. Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino are the choices for Jurgen Klopp should his first choice options be indisposed for whatever reason, showing the need for reinforcements.

That is going to be further amplified this campaign, with Mane and Salah both amongst the Liverpool players set to head to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, along with Naby Keita and Joel Matip. The result of this could be up to a month missed should any of their sides make the final of the competition, something that is sure to be a major issue for the Reds should it happen.

Dembele lined up

Due to this, the Mirror report that Jurgen Klopp’s side have enquired about the potential cost for Ousmane Dembele, the Barcelona and France wide man who has struggled since a big money move to Catalonia in 2017.

During an injury prone career at Barcelona, Dembele has featured just 118 times in 5 seasons, scoring 30 times during that period. Little value on the monstrous 120 million pounds that the club allegedly paid for him.

Now in the final 10 months of his contract in Spain, and still only 24 years old, he could be available for a cut-price in January, or even on a free transfer in the summer, with the Frenchman having failed to respond to Barcelona’s latest contract offer of a three-year extension.

Should he be a player Liverpool should be chasing?
