Liverpool dealt transfer blow as Borussia Dortmund eye up Erling Haaland replacement

Liverpool target Adeyemi

Liverpool have been on the hunt for attacking reinforcements as they look to refresh their front line in the next two years, with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino both pushing 30 years old.

Salah has, of course, begun the season in scintillating form, netting six goals and providing an additional three assists in seven Premier League games so far, but is now 29 years old and will not be able to play 50+ games per season for too much longer.

One of the players thought to be targetted in order to provide competition and eventually take over from the fabled trio was Karim Adeyemi, the German forward currently plying his trade for RB Salzburg.

The youngster has burst onto the scene in the Champions League, winning four penalties in the opening two group stage games, and netting twice. At only 19 years-old, he is a massive prospect for the future, and one that Liverpool would love to bring to Anfield.

Dortmund set to rival Klopp for the youngster

However, Liverpool may have just been dealt a massive blow in their hunt for the striker, with German outlet Bild reporting that the German outfit will “do everything” to bring the former Bayern Munich academy prospect to Signal Iduna Park this summer.

Allegedly, the German outfit see the striker as the perfect replacement for the onward-bound Erling Haaland, who is widely expected to depart this summer due to a release clause in his contract.

While Adeyemi would not replicate the sheer freakish goalscoring talents of Erling Haaland, he would certainly be an exciting option for the German side.

Will Liverpool miss out on another young talent?
