Has Paul Pogba hinted at Manchester United’s next signing?

Pogba’s Manchester United conundrum

Paul Pogba has been an enigma throughout his Manchester United career. Brought back to the club he left as a youth in 2016 for a record 95 million pounds, he has failed to live up to the hype.

Ostensibly a central midfielder, Pogba has been shifted out to the left hand-side of the pitch to allow him more freedom in Manchester United’s side, but while he has improved in this position, he still feels a square peg in a round hole.

Now in the final year of his contract, it remains to be seen whether he will re-sign at Old Trafford, although reports suggest he is inclined to stay.

How can Manchester United get the best out of him though?

Tchouameni in Pogba’s good books

In the final, Paul Pogba partnered Monaco man Aurelian Tchouameni in the heart of Les Blues’ midfield, a pairing that worked to great effect both attacking and defensively.

When asked about Tchouameni’s performances, Pogba was full of praise, saying:

Very, very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man.

What came next, however, will really excite Manchester United fans, as the Frenchman noted his desire to play more regularly alongside the Monaco midfielder, saying:

‘It’s a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality.

‘We wish him to play a lot more games and that I am always by his side.’

And with the pair playing so well together for the national team, it is a move that Manchester United should certainly make.

Tchouameni was been linked to the Red Devils all summer, and has impressed in the time since too, scoring twice in 15 appearances for Monaco. With the French league hit by financial issues, Manchester United in dire need of central midfield alternatives to “McFred”, and Paul Pogba’s ringing endorsement of the 21 year-old, it really does feel like a perfect chance to make a move.

In addition, the 21-year-old has already proved that he can operate alongside Pogba on the biggest stage, which could allow the pair to play as a double pivot, in turn freeing up the left side of the pitch for a more natural left-sided player. It all adds up.

Will Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. pull the trigger on the deal, or will Manchester United look to alternative targets this January?
