Best captain picks for GW8
A key part of playing Fantasy Premier League is choosing your captain for every game week.
The player you select from your starting eleven as your captain will see his points total doubled from that round of fixtures. And if he is not involved in any way, your vice-captain for the week will instead have his normal points total doubled.
Said boost in points can often make or break your gameweek and see you move up or down the FPL ranks a fair bit.
So, picking the best captain each week is a decision you should give considerable thought to. And at 101, we are here to help, picking out the best three captain choices from each week.
Here are our picks for gameweek 8.
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool (12.7)
Another week, another great chance to captain Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian appears to be one of the very few players on FPL that is fixture-proof.
Even against Manchester City and Chelsea this season, Salah has still scored two goals and provided one assist.
So, when Liverpool face off with a struggling Watford side this week, it would make sense to captain Salah. Granted, Watford may experience the new manager bounce as Claudio Ranieri takes charge of his first game for the Hornets. But again, it is Salah, and he has already proven this season that you fail to pick him at your own peril.
Jack Grealish, Manchester City (7.9)
This next pick is somewhat of a risk given Pep Guardiola’s predisposition for making seven changes to his side every single game.
But given Manchester City’s superb record against Burnley, it may be a mistake not to pick/captain any of their players.
The Clarets have not beaten Man City in any competition since March of 2015. Since then, Man City have won 12 and drawn one against Burnley.
It is also worth noting that in the last five meetings between the two sides, the Sky Blues have won by an aggregate scoreline of 19-1.
So, with Jack Grealish seemingly one of the most nailed-on attacking players for City currently, he is probably your best pick.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United (12.6)
Finally, the last captain option you may wish to consider is Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese was benched vs Everton last gameweek, and given the backlash Ole Gunnar Solskjaer received from that, it is safe to assume that will not happen two weeks in a row.
And though Leicester seems like a hard tie on paper, it is worth remembering that the Foxes have had an awful start to the season and have not kept a PL clean sheet since the opening weekend when they faced off with a then goal-shy Wolves.
