Everton boss Benitez provides update on key duo Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison ahead of West Ham tie

Everton face busy West Ham side

David Moyes will once again return to Goodison park as his West Ham side take on Rafa Benitez’s high flying Everton on Sunday lunchtime.

The Toffees have amassed 14 points thus far from their seven games, and sit 3 points clear of their opponents heading into the fixture, courtesy of having lost one game fewer.

A win for Everton could, should results go their way, leave them atop the tree come the end of the weekend, but it is far more likely to see them remain in the very early hunt for Champions League football, currently out of their reach by virtue of goal difference alone.

Key duo still out of action, and more issues too

However, the Blue half of Merseyside are not quite back to full strength, with Rafa Benitez being quizzed about the fitness of star duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison ahead of the clash.

Speaking to the press, the Spaniard revealed:

“Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin are closer, but they will not be available for this game.”

There is a further issue too, with Yerey Mina having played a full game for Colombia in the early hours of Friday morning, leaving him a doubt for the clash with the Hammers. However, Benitez is “hopeful” that the defensive stalwart will be available, if jet-lagged.

Will the depleted Everton side be able to maintain their good run of form, or will the physical and tough to beat West Ham side prove too much for them?
