Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta offers Ben White verdict & assesses Brighton

Brighton vs Arsenal

Brighton and Arsenal are set to face off at the Amex in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.

The two teams head into the clash in good form, though it is the Seagulls who have had the better start to the campaign.

Brighton have won four, drawn one and lost one in six PL ties before Saturday, handing them 13 points and 6th place in the English top-flight.

Arsenal, on the other hand, would have a nightmare start to 2021/22, but have since picked up three wins on the bounce.

On, paper, though, Brighton – due to their form – actually look set to prove Arsenal’s toughest test since they returned to winning ways.

Arteta on Ben White and Brighton

Ahead of the game, Mikel Arteta has been discussing a number of topics.

Firstly, the Spaniard offered his verdict on Ben White, who Arsenal signed from Brighton over the summer for £50m.

When asked how he thinks Ben White is progressing, Arteta stated:

Well I’ve been very impressed with how he handles the pressure, with how he handles the situation of coming through the Euros, the big fee, and the composure and the calmness that he shows. As well the willingness to learn and improve because he realises he’s still really young as well, he’s still in the development process and there are things that he can achieve. We all really enjoy being together and we have to continue like that.”

Arteta was also asked what he has made of Brighton’s strong start to the season under Graham Potter, to which he replied:

That they deserve it. It’s a club that Graham has taken where they changed a little bit the way of playing and they’ve been getting good results and have been very consistent in the way they play. Credit to them and he’s doing a good job.”
