Frances McDormand's Best Movie Since 'Fargo' Quietly Debuts on Netflix This July
Jennifer Lopez recently attracted the ire of cinephiles when she declared that she doesn’t have the patience for movies like Nomadland, director Chloé Zhao’s meditative drama starring Frances McDormand. The movie was released in 2020, and ended up winning the coveted Best Picture and Best Director honors at the Oscars. It also earned McDormand her third acting Oscar and grossed around $40 million worldwide against a reported budget of $5 million. All in all, Nomadland remains a critically lauded hit that furthered the careers of everyone involved, but curiously left Lopez unimpressed. Netflix couldn’t have found a better occasion to release the film.
