Emma Stone's Quirky New Sci-Fi Thriller Has Helped Her Surpass Margot Robbie in the All-Time Box Office Charts
Emma Stone is back at the box office and causing awards season whispers, and she's doing so once again under the tutelage of director Yorgos Lanthimos. The science fiction satireBugonia, a remake of Jang Joon-hwan's 2003 South Korean comedy Save the Green Planet!, just completed its second wide-release weekend at the box office, finishing sixth in the domestic ranks. Its global earnings now stand at $23 million, split between a domestic haul of $12 million and a further $11 million from overseas markets, taking it to third-place in the niche category of highest-grossing movies based on other movies at the U.S. box office.
