Usually, if a movie is longer than about two and a half hours, you will feel its length. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because certain films are supposed to feel long, especially those belonging to the epic genre. Like, the Soviet version of War and Peace from the 1960s is incredible, but it’s told in four parts, all of them adding up to about seven hours, and you do feel the length in a way that’s appropriate, considering the immensity of the source material.
