Were Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey Supposed to Be a Thing in ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’?

The laidback romance between Alan (Sam Neill) and Ellie (Laura Dern). The obvious tension between Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt). The effortless rizz of Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). I watch Jurassic Park or Jurassic World for dinosaurs, but I can’t be the only one to notice how these movies put in a love story or some kind of hot feelings between characters. It can make the tropical islands feel that much hotter. And then there is Jurassic World Rebirth. Having Scarlett Johansson’s badass mercenary meet Jonathan Bailey’s charismatic nerd should make for a dynamic duo, but it left me confused rather than satisfied. Are they supposed to be a thing? Are they going to be besties? Am I overthinking all of this? That third question might be easier to answer because, for the other two, Rebirth doesn’t seem to know what it wants from these heroes.
